Part-time Student Disabilities Officer
This new position, reporting to our Dean of Student Affairs, will be responsible for assisting students with disability accommodations that are not otherwise provided through our PAL program (our program for students with language–based learning disabilities). Position is 20 hours per week, 12 months per year. Responsibilities include advising current and prospective students of services available and related policies and processes; meeting with students to determine appropriate accommodations; researching and securing assistive technology or other resources; arranging for sign language interpreters or note takers; coordinating accommodations with Faculty members, Residence Life staff, Public Safety staff, and Facilities staff as needed. Thoroughly documents responses to all accommodation requests. Follows up with students to evaluate the effectiveness of the accommodation. Manages and updates the website related to support for students with disabilities. Consults with faculty and administration regarding disability law regulations and assists with development and implementation of new policies and procedures. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and experience working with college population and disabilities; Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred. Thorough knowledge of federal and state disabilities laws required. Excellent communication skills, coupled with good judgment, essential. Apply on-line at Curry Staff Positions.
